Vestry Meeting Minutes – July 2026

Vestry Minutes

Monday July 27, 2026

Present: Rev. Bob Carlson, presiding; Rich Gabrielson (2); Deb Marrer (2) Brian Erle (1); and Maui Palmiter (1)

The meeting opened at 1:10 with Vestry reading a portion from Noonday Prayer.

The minutes from the June meeting were approved.

Ted Wolf Guest Presentation: There was a guest presentation and short discussion about a sustaining/matching fund proposal for future investments at St. Andrews. Several different investment ideas were suggested. The Vestry will be collecting data and praying about the various options we have, and will discuss this further at the next meeting.

Finance Report:

The June Finance report was submitted by Cathy Smales. The Vestry had a few questions about Profit and Loss YTD and needed some clarity on a few figures. Rich will speak with Cathy and get some clarification. Rich also will be moving $4,000 (one-time gift) from checking to the 1305 EverBank account.

Property Report:

Roof Repair: The partial church and belfry tower roof have been replaced, completing the entire church building. (which was only half done to this point)  There was a miscommunication with the finance committee about the project, but the invoice has been given to Cathy S. for payment. The Vestry agreed that in the future any large project will be communicated in advance to Cathy.

Old Business:

Ministry Safe Training Status:

Everyone except Sarah and Rowan have completed their bi-annual certification from Ministry Safe.  All updated printouts have been filed.

Update Job Posting for ACNA Job Board:

Brian and Maui will collaborate to get this done in the next few weeks.

Fall Spruce-Up/Gutter Cleaning Day:

This is still TBD and we will choose a day at our next meeting, most likely for sometime in September.

Rectory Residents and Cranmer Agreement:

There will be a Zoom meeting this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. with Matt, Jason, Timothy, Rich and Brian regarding the unsigned agreement. The Vestry agrees that this is important and needs to be signed by the rectory residents and St. Andrews. There may be some changes now that Timothy is no longer doing the lawn work at the church, which was originally his obligation.

New business:

Mid-year Finance and Giving update:

Rich will speak about this during announcements on Sunday, and also email the mid-year reports to parishioners.

Copier issues:

Our copier has not been working correctly and has been misfeeding recently. The copier is out of warranty and we do not have a service repair person. Brian offered to make a few calls to find someone to come and look at it. Also, now that we own the copier we can get a release from our insurance company, which will save a little money.

Recital date in December:

Emily Hutchinson requested use of the church to put on a small music/performing arts recital sometime in December. The Vestry agreed that there would be no charge for the use of the space for one evening. Our available dates are December 4, 5, 6,11,12, or 13th. Rich will contact Emily to see which date works best for her.

Finance Committee suggestions:

The Finance Committee gave Rich some suggestions to discuss at our Vestry meeting. This resulted in discussion about the role/relationship between the Finance committee and the Vestry, and who should be included in decision making for projects at the church. Typically this is the role of the Vestry, but we also value input from other committees and parishioners. We all agreed that the finance committee should be made aware of larger projects before we finalize them.

Communion for the ill or homebound:

We currently have 2 licensed lay Eucharistic ministers who can bring holy Communion to the homebound, hospitalized, or people who cannot attend church. (John Smales and Brian Erle) The Vestry thought this would be a good ministry. Brian had expressed interest previously, so we thought about putting this in the Friday update so people could let us know who might benefit from a visit (perhaps once a month?) We decided to purchase a new portable communion set, as the old one had missing parts.

Rector Reader Request:

The Vestry voted to offer Dori Church an application to the diocese for Lector reading. The Bishop will need to approve this application.

Meeting adjourned at 3:35 p.m. in prayer.

Draft minutes submitted by Maui Palmiter, Vestry Clerk
