Vestry Meeting Minutes – August 2025
Monday August 18, 2025
Present: Rev. Bob Carlson and Rich Gabrielson, presiding (2); Deb Marrer (2) Brian Erle (1); and Maui Palmiter (1)
The meeting opened at 1:10 with prayer. We continue to pray for guidance for the future leading of St. Andrews.
The minutes from the July meeting were approved.
Finance Report:
The July Finance report was submitted and we are thankful for God’s provisions and we see his hand at work here at St. Andrews. We are $xxx.xx under budget for the year.
Property Report:
Pickett’s Painting will begin the painting of the church/ramp and rectory in September, and will call Deb with a date. We will have to coordinate the painting with those who may need the ramp to enter the church. Deb will remind them about reglazing and repair of the broken window.
Furnace Maintenance: Petcosky & Sons will be doing their annual maintenance on the church furnace soon.
Dishwasher Leak: Arctic Bear came and took pictures, but are unable to do the repairs on the dishwasher heat booster. Deb called a second local company who will be calling her back.
Old Business:
Request Letter for Bishop Dobbs: We each signed a letter to Bishop Dobbs requesting the appointment of Rev. Bob Carlson as interim Vicar through Pentecost 2026. We are very grateful for his willingness to answer this call.
Memorial Plaque: We need a person to collect names for parishioners who have passed, which will be engraved and put on the new Memorial Plaque. Maui offered to create a sign up sheet, and we decided to include parishioners from 2007 to present. (Names only) Each engraving will cost $15, but will be paid for by the Memorial Fund.
New Business:
Housing Cranmer Fellowship Students: We still have quite a few questions before coming up with a legal contract for housing students at the rectory. Jason Carlton will most likely be writing up the legal contract for both parties. Rich will speak with Matt and Jonathan at Good Shepherd to ask pertinent questions. Who will pay utilities? Who will maintain the rectory property/shovel? Will students pay tuition? Could students possibly help in our ministry in some way?
Hill/Hollister Wedding: Ron Hollister and Bonnie Hill have requested to get married at St. Andrews in October. They have approached Deb about the possibility of using the undercroft for their reception, and for Bob Carlson to perform the ceremony. The Vestry decided that we need to review the church policy for weddings, and clarify what they will be responsible for. (Organist, food, decorating, etc) Deb offered to call them regarding this, and to help with the coordination.
Vestry Minutes/Highlights: We discussed the Vestry minutes, and whether to make them public to the parish. It was decided that Brian will summarize the minutes, and they will be made available electronically in some capacity.
Lay Eucharistic Minister: The idea of bringing communion to shut-ins was discussed. Brian would like to pursue this as a ministry at St. Andrews. We all thought this was a wonderful idea. Rich will look at the guidelines or training (if any) that may pertain to becoming a lay eucharistic minister.
Meeting adjourned with prayer at 2:30 p.m.
