Monday October 20, 2025
Present: Rev. Bob Carlson presiding, Rich Gabrielson (2); Deb Marrer (2) Brian Erle (1); and Maui Palmiter (1)
The meeting opened at 4:10 with prayer. We continue to pray for guidance for the future leading of St. Andrews.
The minutes from the August meeting were approved.
Finance Report:
The August and September Finance reports were submitted and we are again thankful for God’s provisions at St. Andrews. It was discussed that the amount on the spreadsheet was a ‘Designated Gift’, used for the power washing and painting of the church. The amount appeared on the finance report, but was already spent to pay Pickett’s Painting.
Property Report:
All three young men from Good Shepherd’s Cranmer Fellowship Program have moved in, and Debra has made them keys to the rectory. They also have access to the garage, where they are storing a few items. (That key/key lock may need replacing as it is a bit difficult to open) The boys are providing and paying for their own internet service and it is up and running. Brian will meet with Timothy this week to show him how the snow blower and lawn mower work, and go over outdoor maintenance expectations.
Deb let us know that the furnace at the church is due for its annual maintenance, which will be done on Tuesday 10/21 by Petcosky and Sons.
Pickett’s Painting finished power washing and painting the rectory, church and garage. They have been paid for their work. (from the generous donation of a parishioner)
We still have some large projects which will need our attention in the next few years, such as replacing the church furnace and a portion of the roof on the church.
Old Business:
Rectory Occupancy Covenant:
Thanks to Jason Carlton, this informal agreement for the new rectory tenants has been completed. Deb and Bob have been given a print out copy to look over, which when approved by the Vestry, can be signed by both parties.
Bob Carlson is hoping for a written ‘overview’ for us to better understand the Cranmer Fellowship Program, which is currently quite loose and informal. He plans on speaking to Jonathan about this. We also hope to begin having the young men contribute in some way to the ministry of St. Andrews, and figuring out a month to month schedule that will work for everyone.
Memorial Plaque:
We have collected quite a few names of parishioners who have passed, which will be engraved and put on the new Memorial Plaque. Cathy Smales is in the process of getting the names engraved on each plaque. The plaque will be dedicated on All Saints Sunday after the Prayers of the People, incorporating it into the service on 11/2.
Vestry Minutes Parish Update:
After the minutes are typed up, emailed and approved by all Vestry members, it was decided that Brian can move forward with summarizing them to post on the St. Andrews website. Sensitive details will be removed, and the summary will be a highlight of what we discussed.
New Business:
Coffee hour presentation by Bob Carlson:
We will have an informal presentation with PowerPoint on Sunday, 11/2 on Bob and Joyce’s latest adventure and work regarding their ministry of translation in Africa. We look forward to learning more about this important endeavor that they have dedicated their lives to.
New Adult Bible Study on Tuesdays:
We discussed and agreed to the idea of restarting our Tuesday Bible study at St Andrews. Since Tuesdays have been well attended, we decided to stay with the 9:30-10:30 time slot beginning on 11/4/2025. Bob Carlson will prayerfully think about what book of the New Testament will be a good choice for a 6-7 week series. Rich to make announcement during upcoming services and in weekly parish eMail.
Contract for Bob Carlson as Vicar:
The Vestry decided to meet separately to discuss the details of Bob’s contract and carefully consider details about compensation. We will do this before the next Vestry meeting, and hope to have details solidified very soon.
Bishop Bena and Bishop Dobbs Visits:
Bishop Bena will visit on 11/16, and Bishop Dobbs requested an annual visit with us from 1/31-2/1/26. Bob will be seeing Bishop Dobbs next week and will discuss the date, as he will be away at that time.
Christmas Week Services:
Our Christmas Eve service will be moved to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday 12/24. This will give parishioners time to get to any family plans they have that evening. There will be no Christmas day service. Lessons in Carols will follow on Sunday 12/28 at 10:00 a.m.
Donations to Bob Carlson’s Ministry:
Prayer is still needed as the online system is not currently working to accept donations, which are very much needed to continue Bob’s work overseas. Is there possibly another way to collect donations?
Meeting adjourned with prayer at 5:30 p.m.
